City Traders Imperium pros

  • Four separate funding routes, from a $29 challenge to Direct Funding, depending on whether you optimise for entry cost or immediate capital.
  • No time limit on any challenge, and only three minimum trading days are required to complete a phase.
  • Permissive rulebook: news trading, weekend holding, overnight positions, expert advisors and scalping are all allowed.
  • Profit split starts at 80% and reaches 100% through the VIP tiers, with scaling advertised up to $2,000,000 in allocation.
  • Trustpilot score of 4.2/5 across 1,625 reviews, on a profile open since January 2020 and never suspended by the platform.

Points to consider

  • The 1-Step tolerates just 5% drawdown, measured on balance rather than equity, and it ratchets up with every new account high.
  • A stop loss is mandatory on every trade, only one device per account is allowed, and your VPN must match your country of registration.
  • Instant Funding accounts open at half the advertised size — $1,250 on a $2,500 account — until the scaling profit is reached.
  • Only two platforms, MT5 and Match-Trader, with leverage capped at 1:30 on forex and 1:2 on crypto.
  • The contracting entity is registered in the Union of the Comoros with an operational address in Costa Rica, not in the UK where the brand started.

Our full City Traders Imperium review

Across our six scoring pillars, City Traders Imperium posts 98 on rule fairness and 62 on price. That gap is the thread running through everything below: one of the most permissive trading frameworks on the forex segment, sold above the median, paired with three operational obligations that quietly eliminate traders who have not read them. Overall score 83 out of 100, data verified on 28 August 2026.

City Traders Imperium: a London brand, a Comorian contract

CTI was founded in July 2018 in London by Daniel Martin — co-founder and head coach, 24 years of trading — and Martin Najat, now CEO. Eight years of continuous activity in a sector where many brands do not clear two years, and more than 100,000 traders claimed across 178 countries.

The decisive detail is not in that history, it is in the company register. The contracting entity is City Traders Imperium Limited, registered in the Union of the Comoros under number 15969, with an operational address in San José, Costa Rica, and a training division, CTI FZCO, in Dubai Silicon Oasis. The brand no longer operates from a British entity.

The practical consequence: the contract you sign is not governed by English law, and in a payout dispute, no regulator or court will be available to you. The structure is common in the sector, but it shifts the guarantee onto reputation. That is what our trust score of 85 reflects: high for this market, without legal weight. Trustpilot shows 4.2 out of 5 across 1,625 reviews, on a profile open since January 2020 and never suspended by the platform.

Four ways in at City Traders Imperium, four different calculations

The 1-Step asks for 8% profit in a single phase, three minimum trading days, with no time limit and no consistency rule. From $29 for $2,500 of capital to $449 for $100,000. It is the cheapest door, and the hardest.

The 2-Step asks for 10% then 5%, with a daily loss capped at 5% and a total drawdown of 10% calculated on a static basis. Same account sizes, from $39 to $549.

Instant Funding removes the evaluation: 6% drawdown, five minimum trading days, from $79 for $2,500 to $1,599 for $80,000.

Direct Funding takes the same 6% and five days, at prices on a different scale entirely: $229 for $5,000 of capital, $3,999 for $80,000.

On pricing: on 1 June 2026, CTI cut its prices for good — the $100,000 1-Step to $449 before discount — with the CEO stating publicly that these were permanent prices, not a promotion. Our data records no promo code.

What a 5% trailing drawdown does to a City Traders Imperium account

The 1-Step imposes no daily loss limit — apparent freedom — but caps total drawdown at 5%, calculated on balance rather than equity, and lifted at each new account high. On a $100,000 account, that is $5,000 of room at the start. Take it to $104,000 and the floor rises to $98,800: you have made $4,000, and you now have only $1,200 of tolerance below your starting capital. The margin for error never grows with your gains, it merely follows them.

Add the mandatory stop loss on every trade and you get a format that forgives neither a position held against you nor a run of medium-sized losses. Strategies with a low win/loss ratio, which absorb several small losses before a gain, burn through that room very fast.

The 2-Step reasons the other way: 10% static, a floor set at the start that does not move whatever happens in between, in exchange for a daily loss capped at 5% and a cumulative target of 15%. On $100,000, the $100 difference between the two formats buys tolerance that doubles and stops moving.

City Traders Imperium’s Instant Funding: a half-funded account

Instant Funding and Direct Funding give access to capital without an evaluation, but the first carries a condition that changes its economics: the account starts at half the advertised size. An account shown as $2,500 opens at $1,250 and is only fully funded once the scaling profit is reached. The 6% drawdown presumably applies to that reduced base, but our data does not document its calculation base: get it confirmed.

The information is published, so it is not a trap. But an Instant Funding at $259 for an account advertised at $10,000 does not compare with a 1-Step at $79 on the same size.

City Traders Imperium payouts: seven days, then a rhythm you have to earn

Our payouts score is 87, the best pillar after rules. The first withdrawal is possible after 7 days, under three cumulative conditions: three profitable days, each at a minimum 0.5% profit, and an amount of at least 2% profit or $100.

“First withdrawal after 7 days” does not mean weekly withdrawals thereafter. Frequency depends on the level reached: monthly at level 1, twice monthly at level 2, weekly only at level 3. A newly funded trader cashes out once a month.

The split starts at 80% and reaches 100% through the VIP levels, with scaling advertised up to $2 million of allocation — an argument that only counts across several cycles.

A point to watch: our data contains no published payment method — no transfer, no crypto, no named processor. The firm does not document it in the sources we consulted, and from France the availability of a bank transfer determines the real cost of every withdrawal. KYC is mandatory: get it ready before the payout request, not at the moment the money is owed.

The three City Traders Imperium clauses that have nothing to do with your strategy

The trading rulebook is genuinely permissive, which carries our fairness score to 98: news, weekend holding, overnight positions, expert advisors and scalping are allowed, with no time limit and no consistency rule. Only copy trading is restricted.

Three operational obligations sit alongside it, however, and they do not assess your trading:

  • Mandatory stop loss on all trades. A position opened without a stop is a breach, whatever its outcome.
  • One device per account, unless agreed in advance. Alternating between computer and phone without permission exposes you to an account review.
  • A VPN that must match the country of registration.

These clauses appear in no comparison table. They are discovered during the audit that precedes a payout — that is, at the worst possible moment.

On tooling, the offer is narrow: MT5 and Match-Trader, no cTrader and no TradingView. Leverage is capped at 1:30 on forex and indices in 2-Step, 1:20 on Instant Funding, 1:10 on indices and commodities, 1:2 on crypto. Instruments covered: forex, indices, metals, energies, equities. Our support score, 69, is the second weak point.

City Traders Imperium: who it suits, and who it certainly does not

CTI suits the disciplined forex trader who already places a stop on every position, wants unlimited time to pass, and is aiming at a 100% split over several cycles. The 2-Step, with its static 10% drawdown, is the format most consistent with that profile.

It suits poorly anyone who manages exits by hand or averages down: the mandatory stop loss is disqualifying by construction. Poorly too for anyone who needs cTrader or leverage above 1:30. And poorly, finally, for anyone buying a $29 1-Step believing they are buying a budget version of the 2-Step: it is a more demanding format, not a lighter one.

That leaves the Comorian entity: this is not settled by a score, but by your tolerance for contracting outside any reachable jurisdiction.

What to check on City Traders Imperium’s site before paying

Four points, all obtainable in writing from support:

  1. The exact calculation base of the 1-Step drawdown. Our data indicates an intraday trailing calculated on balance: get written confirmation that the floor is indeed re-evaluated during the session, and not at end of day.
  2. The precise wording of the stop-loss obligation: how much time is tolerated between opening a position and placing the stop.
  3. The scaling profit threshold that triggers full funding on an Instant Funding account.
  4. The withdrawal methods available from France and their fees.

The excluded-country list has five entries in our data — North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Russia. France is not among them.
